Mount Kilimanjaro
The Roof of Africa
Known as Roof of Africa, at 5895m (19,341ft), Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest mountain. It is also said to be the highest free-standing mountain in the world.Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the Seven Summits and although it is considered to be one of the easier ones, climbing it is by no means a walk in the park.
To climb Kilimanjaro is a great challenge and entirely feasible for the active traveler or keen walker looking for something new. In a matter of days you’ll climb Kilimanjaro from the hot plains of Africa through grasslands, tropical rain forest, alpine meadows, moorlands and desert uplands onto snow and ice.

6 DAYS RONGAI ROUTE
The Rongai Route is the only trail that starts from the North Eastern side of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Because of its remote location the route offers trekkers a relatively unspoilt wilderness experience where it is possible to see large wildlife like antelope, elephant and buffalo.
7 DAYS MACHAME ROUTE
Less crowded because of its remote location the route offers trekkers a unique wilderness experience where it is possible to see large wildlife like antelope, elephant and buffalo.
6 DAYS UMBWE ROUTE
Umbwe from the south, is a six-day/five-nights tour and is to be the most scenic and difficult one offerd on Kilimanjaro. the first two days are extremely steep, muddy, and generally strenuous making it only suitable for well-trained mountaineers.
6 DAYS MARANGU ROUTE
The Marangu {or ‘Tourist’} Route is by far the most popular way to the summit. The ascent is more gradual and no professional equipment is required.
8 DAYS LEMOSHO ROUTE
In the west of Kilimanjaro is the Lemosho Glades route, is perhaps the least used initial ascent route on Kilimanjaro, partly because of its remote location and likewise the difficult roads leading to the trailhead.

Incredible team
My family and I summited Mount Kilimanjaro with TAST and the team. In short, they were incredible and I have so many positive things I could say. Our guide Lucia looked after us like we were family. Climbing Kilimanjaro isn’t an easy challenge, especially on summit day, and we couldn’t have made it up there without her optimism and guidance. There are many hats that Lucia had to wear throughout our 8 day trip and she could not have been a better guide for us. Pandaeli, our assistant guide, was great fun and their balance allowed some us to enjoy the mountain and hiking at our own pace as well as staying safe on the mountain. We couldn’t have done it without all the porters and as my mum said on our last day, “when you travel you find family all across the world, thank you for being our second family.” The team was nothing short of family and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone wanting to climb Kilimanjaro. I thoroughly support the ethics of the TAST and their support of equity between women and men, our team had 4 amazing women and supporting companies like this was very important to us.

Kila 2023 Trek
We had a private group of 16 and The trek was fantastic and made all the more easier with our leader Mussa and his crew that took us up the mount is . special shout out to Freddy, Simon, Tony and Luci, they were all fantastic and helped make my trip memorable and weee so supportive and fun along the way. The tipping ceremony was done on the last day in Camp before we head off with the perfect backdrop of Kila… well planned Mussa.

Kilimanjaro Trek
We are an Australian couple who booked through World Expeditions who engaged the services of TAST on the ground in Tanzania. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted at the airport by our driver from TAST, who also assisted us throughout our program. Always punctual and flexible in our arrangements. We completed a Kilimanjaro trek via the Rongai route, which was an amazing experience we will never forget. We highly recommend travelling with TAST, and at all times, our guides and their team were friendly, knowledgeable, caring, and communication was clear. We felt in safe hands and were treated like close friends from day one. My only tip would be if not booking directly through TAST and via a third part as we did, is to ensure that all trip notes and expectations align and are up to date. We think it may be better to book direct with TAST.
